Munna Bhai's father, Hari Prasad Sharma, dreams of his son becoming a doctor. However, Munna has led a life of crime and has never pursued education seriously. To make his father proud and fulfill his wish, Munna decides to pose as a medical student. Along with his sidekick, Circuit (played by Arshad Warsi), he gains admission to a medical college by pretending to be a real doctor.
Munna's unconventional methods and his genuine care for patients win the hearts of both the staff and students at the medical college. He develops a romantic interest in a medical student named Dr. Suman (played by Gracy Singh).
